Mt. Bachelor Star Party
July 2005
Mt Bachelor adds a majestic
backdrop to all the activities at the star party.
It's Wednesday afternoon and people are parking their rigs, getting out
the scopes, and preparing for viewing under the beautiful Central
Oregon skies.
Shown here is Sunrise Lodge, the site of our presentations, meals, and
more.
Arriving on wednesday pretty much guarantees, at least in 2005, that
you can get the spot that best suits your needs.

Broken Top (above), Bachelor, and the Three Sisters are just a few of
the rugged volcanoes that are abundant in the Cascade range.
Nearby there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, fishing, and
general exploring during the day.

The lodge provides plenty of room for gathering, socializing, and
planning out a night of observing.

Staff from the Sunriver Nature Center provide interesting talks about
the flora and fauna of Central Oregon. Here one of our young
astronomers gets up close and personal with a snake.

Everybody gets into the act. After a talk about frogs the kids,
and a few adults that thought they were kids, got to make origami frogs.

Presentations at the lodge included NASA missions, meteorites, and
astrophotography.

And, as always, the event ended with the raffle.
