The Astro Crowd,
anticipating another great week of observing, showed up as early as
Tuesday.
We had great crowd but still had room for more!
Because of construction at West Village the concessions were moved to
Sunrise Lodge creating an opportunity for fun shopping and snacking.
Another great side benefit was the opening of the ski lift to the
summit!
Anybody that took the ride was impressed to stand atop a volcanoe
and gaze about the beauty of Central Oregon and the Cascades.
A highlight among the unique scopes and equipment was Merlin's
Starshooter
Portable Observatory. Many people toured the observatory,
complete with
computers, weather station, bed, microwave, and the all important
refrigerator.
Oh yeah, and the telescope.
As the sun set and the covers came off the scopes we were treated to a
rare
display of lenticular clouds. The seeing that night was as grand
as the sunset.
And what would a star party be without a raffle?
By popular request the 2007 raffle will be moved to Saturday
rather than the traditional Sunday.
